An event you will remember for a lifetime!!
A party of 56 will be leaving Ware on Saturday morning to visit Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is a medieval castle and royal residence in Windsor , notable for its long association with the British royal family and its architecture. The original castle was built after the Norman invasion by William the Conqueror. Since the time of Henry I it has been used by a succession of monarchs and is the longest-occupied palace in Europe.

Boat Trip to Royal Windsor Racecourse
All aboard the French Brothers Boat from the Windsor Promenade for a “jolly“ down the River.

Learn those words for the song “Crest of a Wave”, Coz we are sure Weasel will get you singing it along the way. A big thank you to Don for helping us with the arrangements for the cruise. Its not the time for the young people to have a bath!!! Soap will not be required in the daysack!

Royal Windsor Racecourse
Arrive at Royal Windsor Racecourse in style for a Sleepover of a lifetime – we will be the first Beavers, Cubs &Scouts ever to have slept over at this historic and magnificent Horsey Race Course.

With a fabulous island setting on the banks of the River Thames with acres of  grounds. We won’t be racing horses while we are there but we may get the chance to run on the horses track - who will win young people or Leaders??

But the fun doesnt end there. A wide game on the very large grounds of the racecourse - will surely tire us out before a meal served in the County Restaurant.

After a long day we will unpack our sleeping bags and kit, clean our teeth, and watch the specially selected film  “Racing Stripes” how appropriate for Royal Windsor Racecourse!!

Hopefully, we will drift off to sleep (well that's what the leaders hope!!), dreaming about the adventures we have had all day.

On the Sunday morning we will wake up to a bacon breakfast and discover the clocks have gone forward an hour as British Summer time starts.

We will pack up our Kit and we will reflect on the weekend through a “Scouts Own” talk and the Coach will then bring us back to Ware.

What a fantastic time we will have had – and we will remember this trip for the rest of our lives because it is the Queens Diamond Jubilee to mark the 60 years the Queen has been on the throne.

A very BIG THANK YOU to Daniel (MD) of the Royal Windsor Racecourse and his team for all their help and allowing us to sleepover at the racecourse.

We will be updating the blog as it happens so come back and visit and share with us as we enjoy our Jubilee adventure!!!! - Also check the Blog for our ETA back in Ware
