On Friday 10th of February, four scouts from Bobcat Troop participated in the District Cooking Competition. We were asked to prepare and cook a three course, balanced, meal, following the theme of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. We attended practice sessions to help us get the best result possible from the competition.
Each of us was allocated a certain job to do, I myself attended to the desert; which was chocolate- filled poached pears in a orange zest sauce. Matt W and James S both helped to produce a magnificent coronation chicken, with a peppery salad. And finally Henry J and James created a luscious salmon steak in a dill dressing with seasonal vegetables. In practice we all had a few slip ups but we were pointed in the right directon by Linda O'neill who's work and effort is much appreciated from us all.
On the night we managed to come fourth out of nine which we were very pleased with, this just indicates the hard work all of our leaders have put in to helping us to progress in cooking. It was a great experience, which I wouldn't want to have missed out on. I recommend to all scouts, future and present to try to take part in this event as it is more than worthwhile.
Another Big thanks to Linda :)
