The Beaver Olympics

The District Beaver sleepover is over for another year and once again the Beavers enjoyed every moment.

The excitement started at the opening ceremony and carried on through the sports events and games, which included, amongst many other things, crossbows, scoring goals and throwing wellies.

The barbecued evening meal of burgers and sausages in buns, followed by cake and juice, was soon polished off and the hike to Bengeo was embarked upon. This was a great way to stretch our legs, look at the world around us and use up some energy , which would hopefully aid a peaceful sleep.

On returning to base, we took part in a campfire, drank hot chocolate and then the Beavers snuggled into their sleeping bags to watch a film and drift off to a well deserved sleep.

The morning quickly arrived and we all enjoyed a hearty breakfast, which was followed by the closing ceremony where the Beavers paraded with their flags, the Olympic flame and represented their allotted countries. Medals and certificates were awarded and Scouts Own was held, where we acknowledged the importance of thinking about and helping others.

The Beavers were collected and returned home. Thank you to the parents who said they had been following the blog and found it a great way to see what their Young people were up to.
