After an early morning pick up at 1:00 on Monday morning, and a lift to Gatwick, kindly provided by Badger, we were on our way.
There was time for a quick breakfast before we left, and a chance to use some real toilets for the last time.
The flight was longer than expected due to the air traffic controllers strike in France forcing us to divert vi a Cornwall, and the fly down to Portugal.
We landed in The Gambia at about 3:00pm,and after clearing immigration were immediately mobbed by many helpful porters, who bundled us in to a number of taxis for transport to our hotel.
We spent the afternoon by the pool acclimatising and resting, although the weather isn't too hot, only high twenties.
Monday evening saw us venturing out on to the Senegambia strip, to sample one of the many good restaurants on offer. Eventually we settled on a Lebanese restaurant, where the waiters kept bringing food until we could eat no more.
Tuesday saw everyone head for the beach to chill and recover from the tiring day of travelling. We've all swum in the Atlantic Ocean, and topped up our tan.
After waiting 3 hours for lunch on the beach we walked down to Bijilo Monkey Park to see, well the Monkeys.
We'll post photos soon, but at the moment we've got a bit of a bandwidth problem.
Tomorrow the plan is to pack for travel to Medina Sering Mass, and meet up with Sarjor, our guide, to finalise details for the next part of our trip.
