Community Action

Following on from our sponsored walk along the towpath from Hertford to Ware, the Cubs had another evening to finish off their Community Action badge.

Bill-one of our regular helpers showed the Cubs how to filter water to make it clean from mud (although not necessarily safe to drink!)
We filtered it through sand, stones and other things to remove the mud.

At the end of the evening our parents were invited to come and hear about what we have done for our Community Impact badge.
We told them about our walk and how it felt to walk with the water, about the New River and why it was dug and how it still supplies water to London 400 years after it was first built. We showed them about the water filters and how we had made them. Lastly we spoke about the work of Wateraid and how they are working with the Scouts of Madagascar to improve the lives of those that live there.

We have finally counted up the sponsor money that we raised on our walk and we had a grand total of £403 which was quite amazing for one evening!

Many thanks to all those who supported the Cubs and sponsored them. We have sent the money off to Wateraid and are waiting to hear back from them.
