Snowdon
Joshua, one of our Scouts, climbed to the summit of Snowdon on
holiday with his scarf. It has been a couple of years since we last had a photo of that location. Well done Joshua!

Lochearnhead - Day 11
Well the fun is almost over. We have hiked, sailed, kayaked, cycled, laughed, challenged ourselves, got wet, got wet, got wet and pushed ourselves to our limits. Some have bagged their first Munro, others have added to their total. Planned activities have changed due to the weather and others have been enjoyed. Groups have mixed and matched and everyone has made plenty of memories.
We be Pirates |
We have celebrated Wedding anniversaries (all be it with one half of the couple), have attended a "wedding", held a Pirate event and tonight we have the traditional finale.
Piper calling us |
The Piper called us to flag down, the haggis has been caught and addressed and the celebration has begun. A true Scottish event - well, the Herts way!

Devon
The roving scarf has been spotted in Devon and Somerset. Gill one of our ASLs introduced the scarf to Gromit at Cheddar Gorge and Ethan, a Heron Cub, enjoyed a drink of Heron apple juice.
Lochearnhead - Day 5
Life has been busy at the station. Some of us have been off on our 3 day expedition, which involves carrying all we need for those 3 day and summiting several mountains, as well as wild camping. Upon returning from this expo we are timetabled for a much welcome swim.
Others have had their first night away from the station due to undertaking their bike expo. The usual sailing and kayaking has been taking place and Strachan are the first clan to have been on their day visit.
The last thing any of us expected was to attend a Wedding, but what do you know, this evening we have been witness to Lee and Emma tying the knot (well actually that did that a few weeks ago, but this was the Scout version) and we have a Ceilidh to follow.
Tomorrow, more 3rd Ware set off on their 3 day expedition, others are already on the expedition and the rest will be sailing.

Lochearnhead - Day 2
The 2 day bike expedition returned today, however, another one containing 3rd Ware members set of this morning. The rest of the Group have been kayaking, sailing, and on a 1 day hike. Those camping overnight said it was a beautifully clear night and they had a great view of the stars.
Our young leaders are busy as well setting off on a 3 day expedition or returning from the 2 day bike one.
The Leaders meet to evaluate the day and plan for the next one. Some 3rd Ware members will be setting off on their 2 day bike expedition and others on their 3 hiking expedition.

Lochearnhead - Day 1
Flag break at the station - In activity gear for a quick get away! |
After everyone had eaten and changed, we walked to the station for flag break. For some of us it was a welcome return to a familiar and well loved base, for others the excitement of finally setting foot on the station.
After this we set off for our activities. 3rd Ware members have been involved in biking (a 2 day cycle, camping overnight in between) day hikes, sailing and kayaking. Those who returned to the station will be fed well, settle into their cabins, will have some form of evening entertainment and learn about life at the station. Those on the bike ride are spending their first night in Scotland at the Invertrossachs campsite.
If you look carefully you will spot the roving scarf, resting on the ground. Well, it had to join the adventure!
Don't forget to check the District Lochearnhead blog to get a broader view of the expedition.

Lochearnhead 2013 - The Scottish Adventure
The advance party have already reached Scotland and today the rest of the participants will make their way up to Lochearnhead - travelling overnight, refreshed (!!) and ready to start their first activity as soon as they arrive.
The official blog will contain general news of the whole expedition, check back here for anything that is 3rd Ware specific.
This 2008 photo shows all the participants, that year from, 3rd Ware (past and present - once 3rd Ware, always 3rd Ware!). Many of the same faces will be there this time, all be it 5 years older. That is why we are one of the most active groups in the District, our members enjoy taking part and continue to do so year after year.
Hopefully, those who attend this year, will challenge themselves, make new friendships and create a store of memories they will continue to recall for many years to come. At the beginning of next term, look out for those who are wearing the tartan scarf and ask them about their adventure.
Devon
Down in Devon, the scarf was witness to a few Scouting skills, some great views and a dedication service.

A Few funny smells here!!
Set off in a Tardis - arrived in a Fabia Scout!!!
The roving scarf last seen in Ardeley checking out a green field camp site!! You never know - one day we may get the Home Minister on a camp!!! :) :) :)
Weasel was trying to recruit new Scout Leaders - But Pinky wouldn't play unless Perky would play - we couldn't find Perky; and Old Macdonald couldn't give an oink, oink here or an oink, oink there!
Time to eat! Nothing like a ploughman's.
**(Added by GSL) - It looks like Weasel and his family had fun showing their scarf a little more of the countryside, I look forward to seeing where the scarf goes next.**
