Pencil case packing

Last week, some of the Leaders sorted and packed all the fantastic pencil cases and school items that were donated by the members of the Group.
We started with lots of cases that needed checking as well as some empty ones and added some more items to even them up.

We also had boxes of biros, paper, reading books donated from a local school as well as some office supplies for the school office.
The pencil cases will go to the Scouts of Medina Sering Mass and the other items will go to the school to support all the students.
We were also able to include some items for HELPING that they had not been able to pack on their most recent visit.
in the end, everything looked like this!

The boxes will be shipped out by a company in the next few weeks, hopefully to arrive while the Meeks' are still out there.

Again, many thanks to all those who kindly donated items for this latest support for our twin Group.

Falcons visit Bayfordbury Observatory

Last week, the Cubs of Falcon Pack went to visit the University Observatory to find out about the stars and planets and gain their Astronomy badge.
We started with a talk in one of the lecture rooms, where Ged showed us some great websites and we looked at googlemoon and googlemars before splitting into two groups.

One group went into the Planetarium inside where we could look at any stars, in any part of the world at any time!

We also had a demonstration of some of the vast distances there are in space, although using a football for the sun!

The groups then swapped over and we went outside to see the huge telescopes. Unfortunately, it was very cloudy and we couldn't look through them.

It was a great evening, much enjoyed by all. Thanks to all the students and staff at the observatory. We'd like to come back when it's not cloudy!
