Falcon Pack go ice skating

At our recent Pack Forum, the Cubs decided that they would like to go ice-skating for our last Pack meeting of term. So we did!

A very Merry Christmas to everyone and best wishes for 2016 from everyone in Falcon Pack!

Leaside Christmas tree festival

The Beavers and Cubs have again put a tree in the Leaside Christmas tree festival. They decorated snowflakes, stockings and Christmas trees with lots of glitter and drawings!

The tree is called 'Christmas Celebrations'.
Thank you to all the Leaders and young people who have contributed again.

Christmas post stamp competition

This year there was a record amount of entries for the Christmas Post stamp competition with all sections entering. The judges said it was very hard to choose a winner as they were all so good, so in the end they chose two! Both were from Falcon Pack and Toad came down to the Pack meeting to tell the winners the news and give them some newly minted stamps!

Well done to Adelaide and Daisy!
We look forward to seeing your designs made up.

District Night Hike

Four Falcon Cubs went on the recent District night hike around Buntingford. Shere Khan and Ian from Scouts walked the route of about six miles with the Cubs, taking part in some bases on the way.
When they got back, there were burgers to eat before settling down to watch a film in their sleeping bags!

The following morning, after a quick breakfast, the Cubs went home for a sleep! Well done, Hayden, Arthur, Kyle and Tommy. You were a credit to 3rd Ware.

Visit by Falcons

Falcon Pack Cubs got to visit Kaa at work. They had to put on lab coats, gloves and protective glasses before going into the labs.

We were then able to look at the robots that did some of the work and had a talk about DNA.

At the end of the visit we were all given goodie bags! Many thanks to Kaa and his managers for a very interesting evening.

Card for HM The Queen

During our first meeting back after the summer, Falcon Cubs made a card to send to HM The Queen to congratulate her on becoming our longest serving Monarch.

We are now looking forward to receiving a letter from one of The Queen's Ladies in Waiting to add to our collection over the years!

Oxley Shield 2015

Last weekend saw all of the Packs in Ware & District go to Rigery Farm for the annual Oxley shield camping and Scouting skills competition. Each Pack had to camp overnight, cook their evening meal on an open fire and during the day take part in eight different bases. There was mini-pioneering, first aid, knotting, communication, an assault course, tent pitching, map and compass work and firelighting. Falcon Pack worked well together and came 5th overall. This year there was only 15 points between first and fifth so it was a very tight competition. Thank you to Izzy, Emily, Daisy, William, Richard & Luke for being part of our team.

Cream teas during the Ware town raft race

For the past three years, the Gambia committee of the Scout Group have raised money to support our twin Group in Medina Sering Mass by running refreshments during the raft race. Leaders and parents kindly donate lots of scones and cakes and they are sold before, during and after the race. The people from HELPING also have their stall to raise some funds for their work.

After getting everything ready and before the rush

Cutting cakes and getting the stall ready

A lovely spread of cakes!

Many thanks to all that supported us again. The final amount raised is not yet finalised but we are going to replace Scout uniforms and scarves for our Scouts.

Gosling Park fun rings

For their last meeting of term, Falcon pack went over to Gosling to try out the fun rings. Heron pack had been there before and had recommended the activity we went to give it a go!

It's great fun going down!

But hard work going back up!

Even better with a whole group going down at once!

The evening was great fun and everyone had a good time. Remember to take gloves if we go again...........

Tolmers Cub Activity Evening

Some of the Falcon Cubs attended the recent activity evening at Tolmers campsite. The queues were very long but they managed to go on the trampolines, Rope-a-Phobia and water wars to name a few. They all enjoyed what activities they were able to do.

Falcon Pack at the Park

Falcon Pack have been working towards the Navigator badge. The final requirement was to go on a short hike using an OS map. So we navigated our way to the park!

We all had a great time playing on the equipment until the end of the meeting!

District Cub fun run

This week was the District Cub fun run at Rigery Farm. There was a good turnout from 3rd Ware and both Packs did well in the run.
For the first time ever, it rained before the event started but fortunately it didn't rain for long and the Cubs set off on schedule.

After a short wait the results were announced and Herons were 3rd and Falcons 5th. A good result all round.
Well done to the Gambia Committee as well, who sold the refreshments and raised £200 for new uniforms for our Twin group in Medina Sering Mass.

Delivery to The Gambia 2015

We have received some photos of the delivery of much needed mosquito nets and tents for our friends at Medina Sering Mass.  This was provided from our fundraising in 2014.

More photos are available on our website here.

This boy is the only one that could put the tent together and had to show them all.
