Gambia - recent fundraising success

We have raised sufficient funds to pay for 1 solar panel, 1 x 2000W inverter and 1 x 200A battery.

Our future fund raising efforts will target an additional panel and 3 additional batteries to the Solar Power capability. On hearing the news Alhagi the Medina Sering Mass scout leader wrote.
"Dear 3rd Ware Scouts, I have just spoken to the new school principal, Mr. Yahya Mass and he is profoundly thanking all 3rd Ware Scouts for their support to the scouts and the school in general. Everybody here is grateful of your efforts in helping our scouts, the school and the village.
These panels will go a long way in helping the students to be able to have their studies in the school as many parents cannot afford candles daily for their children to read. At the same time this will help in typing and printing questions at the end of the academic year.
We thus pray for the success of each and every scout there and their families. We pray that the lord will repay all your good work. You have made great impacts in our lives and we honestly cannot express our thanks in words. All we have is prayers and this we will surely keep showering you with. Best wishes, Alhagi."
After reading this response many of us were very humbled when we think of the things that we worry about it really does put things into perspective. Our Group twinning enables us to learn about their lifestyle – needing candles to be able to study & their grateful thanks for what we are doing, which is so little.

This gives us great encouragement for the future support of our friends in Medina Sering Mass

Message from The Gambia

From Alhagi - Medina sering Mass Scout Leader
"Dear 3rd Ware Scouts, Once again we will continue to reaffirm our grattitude on every individual taking part in this noble gesture. I have learnt through your web that clothes are already been sent.
This I assure you will go a long way in reducing the burden of parents buying clothes for their families, as the only source of income is agriculture. People here have already harvested their peanuts but it is not a bumper harvest compared to previous years, yet this year's harvest is a bit better than last year.
I can strongly assure you that your gesture is indeed timely and be received by the villagers full of thanks. Surely they shall forever keep you in their prayers.
On the other hand, the money that you've sent for the uniforms was indeed able to buy 92 uniforms. Therefore you help us to acquire 92 brand new uniforms instead of the 60 that we demanded initially. This we were able to do because the whole sale price was lower than the unit price we've sent to you.
I'm happy to inform you that every body in the group is now with a new uniform. We thank you for making us all proud again. We pray that may your stars continue to shine higher and brighter. We are indeed very happy to have wonderful people like you. Thank you. Best wishes, Alhagi"
