Train Driving
For our final meeting of the term River Ash Beavers had the opportunity to drive the train at East Herts Miniature Railway, in Van Hage garden centre.
It was a really fun evening, although we did manage to cause a delay by derailing the train at one point!

Leaside Christmas tree festival 2013
This year our theme is 'Our Friends in The Gambia'. The Beavers have used lots of photos of the people in Medina that the Leaders met when they visited last year. The Cubs have used the flag of The Gambia as the basis for their decoration.

Christmas Lights Safari
Tonight, River Ash Beavers have been on a Safari around the streets of Ware to admire the wonderful display of Christmas lights on show. There were several fantastically decorated houses, and we were very impressed with the number of people who have made a huge effort.

Scouts Try Some Gambian Cooking
This week, both the Lynx and Bobcats Scout Troops tried their hand at cooking some Gambian recipes. Ingredients varied from chillies (don't touch your eyes!), coconut milk, squashes, peanut butter and plantains (no they're not bananas!).

Christmas Post Stamp Design winner
Publicity for the Christmas Post 2013 has been distributed, and posters are being put up around the town.
Excitement is building, as we hope for a record year in raising money for good causes. None more so than at Falcon Cub Pack, one of whose Cub's has won the competition to design the stamp we will be using this year.
Well done!

Night hike for Falcon Pack
As part of the Fitness challenge, the Cubs went on a night hike from Shere Khan's house up to Thundridge and back. Fortunately the weather was dry for us but we still got very muddy!
Falcon Pack at Thriftwood Activity Day
On Sunday, 13 Cubs and 2 Leaders from Falcon Pack attended the first Cub and Brownie activity day at Thriftwood campsite. They had enjoyed their camp there in May and wanted to try out some of the other activities the site could offer. The weather was lovely apart from the thunderstorm at the end of the day!

After that the cubs were allowed to play with the hoses under the watchful eye of the real life Fireman Sam.

Karate evening for Falcon Pack
As part of the Fitness challenge, Falcon Pack invited two former members along to give a karate demonstration to the Cubs. Sensei Keith and Sean showed the Cubs some of the karate moves, some self defence and taught them some of the Japanese words used during the sport.
The Cubs really enjoyed the evening and hopefully learnt a new skill as well. Many thanks to Keith and Sean for coming along to help us out.
