Roving Scarf 2014
The Roving Scarf is back for the Summer of 2014. Take your scarf on holiday or for a day trip, photograph it and ask your parent/guardian to email a copy to rovingscarf at gmail dot com (without the spaces and replace the words with the appropriate symbol!) and we will feature your pictures on this blog.
Last year the scarf travelled far and wide, where will it go this time?

Our thanks to Bobcats Scout Troop for hosting our Annual General Meeting last night.
After the short formalities of reviewing our Annual Report and Accounts (great photos inside! - there are still copies available in our foyer), the Scouts described the many adventurous activities they have been involved with over the last year.
Congratulations then went to 3 worthy Scouts who were presented wih their Chief Scout's Gold Award.

St.George
The older members of the group spent several hours, before the parade, out and about helping the community. They painted, cleaned and litter picked at the Priory, playground and skate park. They helped dredge the waterway and make Ware a cleaner and smarter place.
The Cubs participated in a service at Christ Church, Church, whilst the Beavers were involved in their own event at Christ Church School. Both then joined with the Scouts and the rest of the District to parade down the high street and onto the Priory.
Here we renewed out promises and the results of the Peter Geer trophy were announced. This year we came 4th. This award is given for the percentage of young people attending District events. Peter Geer, an ex-3rd Ware Leader strongly believed, that all young people, not just a select few, should have the opportunity to join in and try out activities, a philosophy still held dear to 3rd Ware. Participation is key, winning is great and always welcome, but joining in is what matters!
The afternoon ended with our annual whole group photo in front of the Priory.
St George's Day Parade Today
Today we celebrate the Patron Saint of Scouting, by taking part in community based activities around Ware.
- The Scouts are meeting at 12:30 at the Priory to undertake community projects (including our usual overhaul of the skate park).
- The Cubs are meeting at Christ Church at 2:45pm for their celebration in the church.
- The Beavers are meeting at Christ Church School at the same time for their celebration.
Around 4pm we will all meet up and parade down the High Street to the Priory Grounds for a final gathering of all involved in Scouting and Guiding in Ware (plus parents).
Here promises are renewed, The Peter Geer trophy is awarded and we, at 3rd Ware, finish off by taking our annual Group Photo! See you there.

Ware Dickensian
A big thank you to all who donated, assisted and supported our stall at the Ware Dickensian Night. A total of £660 was raised for the Group funds. It was also good fun.

Leaside Christmas tree festival 2013
This year our theme is 'Our Friends in The Gambia'. The Beavers have used lots of photos of the people in Medina that the Leaders met when they visited last year. The Cubs have used the flag of The Gambia as the basis for their decoration.

Woodland Wonderland
We have been asked to pass this invitation on to all members of our Scout Group. The organisers say that families can book direct and attend the event with their children and are free to invite non-Scout member friends and family along, as well.
Phone or email Phasels for more information or to make a booking.

Christmas Post Stamp Design winner
Publicity for the Christmas Post 2013 has been distributed, and posters are being put up around the town.
Excitement is building, as we hope for a record year in raising money for good causes. None more so than at Falcon Cub Pack, one of whose Cub's has won the competition to design the stamp we will be using this year.
Well done!

Lochearnhead - Day 11
Well the fun is almost over. We have hiked, sailed, kayaked, cycled, laughed, challenged ourselves, got wet, got wet, got wet and pushed ourselves to our limits. Some have bagged their first Munro, others have added to their total. Planned activities have changed due to the weather and others have been enjoyed. Groups have mixed and matched and everyone has made plenty of memories.
| We be Pirates |
We have celebrated Wedding anniversaries (all be it with one half of the couple), have attended a "wedding", held a Pirate event and tonight we have the traditional finale.
| Piper calling us |
The Piper called us to flag down, the haggis has been caught and addressed and the celebration has begun. A true Scottish event - well, the Herts way!

Devon
The roving scarf has been spotted in Devon and Somerset. Gill one of our ASLs introduced the scarf to Gromit at Cheddar Gorge and Ethan, a Heron Cub, enjoyed a drink of Heron apple juice.
