It seems that 3rd Ware were represented at the Olympics today! We look forward to any other photos of the Green and Black scarf visiting Olympic events this summer. Well done Richard .

Ware Fire Station

Last meeting of the term and River Lea were off to the fire staion with sixteen very excited beavers.Having warned the firemen how excited the beavers were the fireman started off by giving us a guided tour of the fire engine

Shelter Building

This week saw River Ash Beavers visit Presdale's Wood for the final meeting of the summer term.


We were ably assisted by Badger and several Parents, who stepped in to ensure we could run a meeting, as several Leaders needed to go to secondary school's with their own children.


Despite the rain, all the Beavers enjoyed helping to build a large shelter.


It was well covered with bracken, and looked almost good enough to spend the night in!  (That's exactly what the Scouts did last Friday!)

After an exciting morning watching the Olympic torch relay, and entertaining the assembled crowds with our camp fire songs although this one seems to sum up our feelings quite well, we along with most of the Amwell end crowd, darted to Broadmeads and assembled to take part in the wettest carnival parade most of us can remember. 

However the Scouting spirit shone through and there were still smiles right  up to the end where our centenary banner became a useful shelter. For more general photos have a look here.

Olympic Flame

Before the carnival began today we had the chance to take the Group to watch the Olympic Flam pass through Ware.

We set up our benches and the Young people sat on them and sang their hearts out whist we waited, entertaining all those around us.

When the torch bearer arrived we were delighted that she came over to have her photo with the group and let the young people touch the torch, thank you.

It was a thrilling experience for them and hopefully something they will always remember. You can view this relay on the BBC. The Ware leg starts around 10.45

Scout survival camp

Tonight the Scouts are holding a joint camp. They have let the Lynx and Bobcats loose to build their own shelters and sleep in them. Let's hope the weather holds!

Beavers Water Activities

On Saturday afternoon, River Ash and River Lea Beavers met up at 1st Hertford's HQ, for an afternoon of messing about in boats.


Beavers had the chance to try canoeing and sailing, and even get a ride in a power boat.


We were very lucky with the weather, as it was hot and sunny. The wind was also very strong, which allowed the sailing boats to go very fast.


Up wind was harder though, with the rescue boat being used to tow them back to the start.


Afterwards we were treated to a Barbecue by Doormouse.
